Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ page). Below, we have tried to answer the most common questions visitors to this our Web site may have. If you find that your question is not answered on this page, please email us or call us during on 01432 353606.
"It is the first time I've used this site - how does it work?"
Just browse and anything you like just give us a ring and we will be only to pleased to help you. If you don’t see anything you want - don’t worry because we are bound to have something of interest in the shop. There are just too many items in stock and to list them all would make the World Wide Web slow down.
"Where do you get all this stuff?"
The phone's just do not stop ringing! We simply can not buy everything we are offered so we have to carefully choose the best.
We work closely with our sister company Wye Valley Demolition Ltd who prior to demolition starting will contact us to ensure the careful removal of any architectural salvage. To see more about our sister company why not visit our links page to learn more?
We also scour auctions nationwide for gems hidden in those dusty corners of provincial salerooms. Despite the competition, it is amazing what can be found. If you have something to sell please email John Dyer at and try to attach photographs and measurements of the item in question.
"I've got something that you may be interested in buying, who should I talk to?"
We are always interested to hear from anyone with an item that may be for us. It doesn't matter what it is or where it is currently located. The best way of going about approaching us is to take photographs from all angles plus some detailed shots (if appropriate) and measurements. Write down anything you know about its history or origins and either post or email it.
Be aware that we do get offered an enormous quantity of goods and by no means can we buy it all.
"Who buys it all?"
Anyone who has an interest in architectural items from the past and present.
"Do you deliver? (I love this oak staircase but how am I going to get it to Scotland)"
Wye Valley will deliver most items practicably anywhere however, certain restrictions will apply and cost would very much depend on:
what it is (how much of it),
where it is going.
delivery requirements (e.g. A three ton statue ‘over the sea to Skye’ does mean additional costs I'm afraid!)
"What else is there in Herefordshire for me to visit?"
There are many worthwhile items/places of interest to visit in Hereford and the surrounding areas which will make your visit more worthwhile. Click on our links page to find out more then have a browse.
